In my late 30's I became a homeless alcoholic and eventually a severe crack addict. After 7 years of homelessness, several trips to mental hospitals and countless visits with psychiatrists and therapists, I surrendered to the help of a treatment center, sobered up and was put on several medications. However, I still had paralyzing bouts of depression. I wondered if I would have to settle for a life of depression, medications and 12 Step meetings. At 18 months sober, I heard Bob Anderson's message in a Twelve Step meeting. My first reaction was "Wow, the last thing that I am learning is the first thing that I needed to know". From application of the program as taught by Bob Anderson, my life improved and has improved ever since. I was able to start working. I have my own apartment. I have a sense of calmness and peace of mind that I have never known was possible.

In July 1976, I was introduced to Bob. He led me, guided me and educated me in the process of getting sober. Bob's message about his life, alcoholism and the recovery process can be understood by anyone and encompasses a design for living in which substance abuse is not necessary to enjoy life. My life has never been fuller or broader in nature.

I am an alcoholic and drug addict. I came from a very fast, hard and dangerous life. People who know me are amazed that I am still alive. By the grace of God, I got sober in a rehabilitation hospital and have remained sober ever since. Although sober, active and attending many different 12 Step meetings for the first 2 1/2 years of recovery, I still did not understand what was wrong with me. I was very unhappy and even became suicidal. Fortunately, I met Bob Anderson. Even though English is not my native language, Bob spoke in such a way that I could understand what was wrong and what to do about it. My life has completely changed ever since.
